This client had a very special and specific reason to build out their basement. As parents to a highly autistic child they wanted to create a space that would provide an area for their child to feel safe and comfortable while allowing the entire family and special friends to hang out together. Our designer worked with the family therapist and come up with a customized solution the met their needs. The wide open space with awesome lighting allows the family to be together and prepare simple meals in the kitchenette. Tucked away in the corner of the basement is a “safe room” or “quiet rest area” for their child to escape while being close enough for the family to keep watch care for them. The full bathroom with a large walk in slab shower enables everyone to hang in the basement and maximize family time together.
